Assault and battery are among the most common charges encountered in Connecticut courts. These charges stem from a variety of incidents, including domestic disputes, fights in bars, road rage and resisting arrest. Charges in assault cases range from disorderly conduct to attempted murder.
The fact that assault charges are common does not mean that you can take them lightly. Conviction of assault can result in serious consequences to your personal and professional life. If you have been charged with assault, you face a possible jail sentence and a permanent criminal record that can have long-term consequences on your career and family life. You need a Greenwich assault attorney who will go to court to clear your name if it's in your best interest.
Criminal defense is not a 9-to-5 business. I'm available to you at all hours of the day, every day of the week. Call 203-542-9597.
The Law Offices of Mickey Sherman offers experienced legal representation if you face assault charges or any other criminal charges. As your lawyer, I will begin by listening carefully to your information and reviewing every detail of police reports, witness statements and any additional evidence that exists. I speak with those involved to discover important facts that the police missed or understand their pertinence to your defense.
Disorderly Conduct Defense
Depending upon the strength of your case, we can plan to go to trial or work to get charges reduced in pretrial negotiations.
One of the more famous assault cases I handled was the defense of Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, who is better known as the pro wrestler "The Iron Sheik." Years ago while the Sheik was still wrestling, he was falsely accused of assaulting a gas station attendant who had sworn at the Sheik and refused to serve him.
The Sheik is a former Olympic wrestler and a hardworking family man. Instead of bringing these facts to light to the court and prosecutors using the standard approach of testimonials attesting to his strong character, I created a videotape of pro wrestling-style interviews with many of the Sheik's fellow celebrity wrestlers who bellowed into the microphone that the judge must provide justice for the Sheik. The judge loved my approach, the case went away and the Sheik carried on with his career. I used that video in dozens of lectures to lawyers around the country as an example of "creative defenses." It's available for viewing from my In the Media page.
Now, a videotape featuring pro wrestlers isn't the ideal criminal defense strategy in every case, but I bring the same creativity and understanding of what works in the courtroom to every case I handle.
I welcome the opportunity to review the facts of your case during a free consultation and recommend the best course of action. I am a straight-shooter who will provide an honest assessment of the likely outcome of your case. Call 203-542-9597 or email me to schedule an appointment.
