"How can you defend those people?"
It's the question that every criminal defense lawyer gets. It's also the name of my book published in 2008. I did not apologize for defending individuals accused of crimes in the book, and I am not going to now.
From the Law Offices of Mickey Sherman in Greenwich, Connecticut, I have defended thousands of individuals against a broad range of criminal charges during a career that has lasted more than four decades.
I knew some of these clients were guilty when I represented them (in fact, some admitted it), but that does not preclude them from receiving top-notch legal representation.
For more than 20 years, I have enjoyed success as a legal commentator for a number of broadcast channels. I also have written extensively for legal publications and lectured around the country on criminal law issues as well as media coverage of notable trials.
I continue to represent individuals from all walks of life in state and federal courts throughout Connecticut in a full range of criminal cases. In fact, I have been in their shoes. In 2010, I pleaded guilty to two tax misdemeanors and served six months in a federal prison "camp." It is an experience that I believe has served me well in my work as an attorney. A chapter about my experience that was written for the recent edition of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" has been widely praised.
I have felt the same anxiety that my clients feel — the uncertainty about the long-term future and the fear of going to prison. As a result, I make a point of keeping my clients completely informed about their case and all of their options. I provide straightforward assessments about their situation and assure them that I am committed to minimizing the impact that any criminal charge will have on their lives.
I offer a free, no-obligation consultation in which I can review the facts of your case and recommend the best course of action. Call 203-542-9597 or email me to schedule an appointment.
Many individuals are surprised when I answer my own phone or reply to my own emails. It's the only way I conduct business. I work with my clients from start to finish!
